We are delighted you have chosen Michelle Sidwell Academy of Dance (MSAOD) to begin your dance journey! The Michelle Sidwell Academy of Dance has been operating from Chislehurst since 1999. We offer high quality training in all aspects of the performing arts. The Academy is a small friendly school where students are taught in a caring, encouraging and professional environment. We teach a wide range of dance disciplines to pupils from the age of 2 ½ years old.
Our teachers are fully trained & qualified, insured, DBS checked, hold Infection Control and Prevent COVID-19 certificates and have full chaperones licences. MSAOD is registered with, and offers examinations accredited by, the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD).
We are a performance based school and MSAOD dancers take part in a variety of community events each year, and every class performs at the Annual Showcase in February.
Prices are competitive and we offer a very generous 20% discount for all siblings.
Examinations follow the World-renowned ISTD (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing) syllabus. They are a high standard faculty which is regularly monitored and audited by OFQUAL to ensure that standards are maintained. This stamp of approval reassures parents that the ISTD qualifications are comparable to those that your children study within the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) at school. Examinations from Grade 6 upwards also offer UCAS points, towards your child's application form for university.
We offer all prospective students a free trial lesson. Following the trial and provided all parties are happy, you will be fully enrolled in your chosen classes from the following week and a pro-rata invoice will be issued for the remainder of lessons in the term. We aim to give all students as much performance experience as we possibly can at various events throughout the year. We hold an annual production every year in February at The Bob Hope Theatre in Eltham. All pupils including pre-school pupils are invited to perform. We aim to always make our productions and performances as interesting and professional as possible.
Professional portrait and show photographs (courtesy of B&C Photography) are taken at the two dress rehearsals we hold. A commemorative DVD is also available to purchase so that you can relive the performance at home. We also perform at West End venues and even as far afield as Disneyland Paris. We love to perform at local events and are regular performers at Chislehurst Summer Fair, Petts Wood May Queen and The Christmas Tree Festival.
