FOR STUDENTS IN GRADE 2 MODERN OR ABOVE

The ISTD Jazz awards consists of three awards, Bronze, Silver & Gold.
Bronze, Silver and Gold Jazz Awards come under the umbrella of the ISTD Modern Theatre faulty and run alongside the core programme to provide students with the correct performance and dynamics for Jazz.

Pupils have the opportunity to participate in examinations at Bronze, Silver & Gold level. These awards must be taken in consecutive order.

This class will work on Jazz technique and amalgamations working towards the ISTD Bronze, Silver and Gold exams.

Similar to the Modern Theatre Syllabi, the Jazz Awards are fun and energetic and encourage a real enthusiasm and passion to dance and perform. Students will enhance their sense of performance and will improve their overall expression and theatrical qualities.

The Jazz Awards have fewer exercises than the Modern Syllabi for examination, which make them an exciting difference to learn alongside the Modern Theatre grades and to enhance pupils technique and performance skills.

This class will also incorporate non-syllabus Jazz where students can be more creative, with less constraint on syllabus, giving them the opportunity to develop individuality, musicality, a sense of performance as well as perfecting their jazz technique which is seen in the commercial world of dancing.

This class is taken alongside their usual ISTD modern grade class.
