About us

The Michelle Sidwell Academy of Dance has been operating from Chislehurst since 1999. We offer high quality training in all aspects of the performing arts. The Academy is a small friendly school where students are taught in a caring, encouraging and professional environment. We teach a wide range of dance disciplines to pupils from the age of 2 ½ years old.

All pupils are given the opportunity, to perform in our annual production held at The Bob Hope Theatre, Eltham, as well as other performances and regional events throughout the year. Our prices are very competitive, offering good value for money. We also offer a very generous 20% discount for all siblings.

Examinations follow the World-renowned ISTD (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing) syllabus. They are a high standard faculty which is regularly monitored and audited by OFQUAL to ensure that standards are maintained. This stamp of approval reassures parents that the ISTD qualifications are comparable to those that your children study within the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) at school. Examinations from Grade 6 upwards also offer UCAS points, towards your child's application form for university.

If there is a class here that interests you then please feel free to come along and try any class FREE OF CHARGE.

Dance Classes Chislehurst, Childrens Dance Class, Ballet

All of our dance classes are run from Chislehurst Methodist Church, Prince Imperial Road, Chislehurst, BR7 5LX. We have the use of 2 lovely halls as well as running some classes from the church itself.

We have a changing room which is located to the rear of the building where students can change and leave their bags & coats. Parents are invited to wait here or alternatively in the courtyard area. There is a large car park at the front of the building and we are also easily accessible by bus and train. On a Friday we run a small tuck shop for the students, which is a very popular addition to our classes and is held outside the hall doors. The premises have a wide double door entrance with easy accessibility for wheelchairs and pushchairs. There is also baby changing equipment within the ladies toilets as well as a separate toilet within the main hall, so that children do not need to leave the hall when using the bathroom.

We aim to give all students as much performance experience as we possibly can at various events throughout the year. We hold an annual production every year in February at The Bob Hope Theatre in Eltham. All pupils including pre-school pupils are invited to perform. We aim to always make our productions and performances as interesting and professional as possible.

Professional portrait and show photographs (courtesy of B&C Photography) are taken at the two dress rehearsals we hold. A commemorative DVD is also available to purchase so that you can relive the performance at home. We also perform at West End venues and even as far afield as Disneyland Paris. We love to perform at local events and are regular performers at Chislehurst Summer Fair, Petts Wood May Queen and The Christmas Tree Festival.
